Online Industry Trends and Adsense Alternatives

Online Industry Trends and Adsense Alternatives: "Trends in the Online Marketing Industry Since 2000

Even a day in the life of the internet can seem like a lifetime, so tracking the history of the major events in online marketing since 2000 is a major task. But there are several notable events which pop up like luminous markers among all the lesser known landmarks in the years that have passed since we entered the new millennium.

One of the biggest was in 2000 itself, when Google brought out their PPC advertising program. In 2003 people looking for a way to make money from their websites and blogs could do so via Google Adsense. This really went hand in hand with the Pay Per Click program, since it enabled webmasters to make some Adsense money from the ads they could now display on their website.

While Google probably wasn’t the first company to make it possible for webmasters to monetize their sites by learning all the Adsense secrets they possibly could, they were (and still are) the company that made the biggest splash in this area.

Since then, although many people still use Adsense a lot of webmasters and bloggers have tried the other Adsense alternatives that have popped up on the horizon, giving everyone a choice of how they want to earn money from their site.

Indeed there are now a number of companies who have popped into existence with the sole aim of matching suitable advertisers with suitable publishers (ie. allowing people who blog about computers to display ads for computer related goods on their blog).

This has made the whole idea of blogging for profit far more prevalent since the year 2000. Indeed blogs as a whole – whether they are monetized or not – have exploded since then. They are far from being solely the personal online diaries they used to be; now they are used by businesses all over the world to help promote their brand and maintain better contact with their customers and potential customers.

Earning money from a website or blog used to be chiefly about promoting your products and hoping people would buy them. But thanks to Google Adsense and the many Adsense alternatives that are now available, earning money from a website can now be done in a variety of different ways. This has really developed markedly since the year 2000.

One form of advertising which has emerged is In-Text. Sites are now able to monetize their textual content directly by displaying user initiated ads that link to highlighted keywords. These ads can be displayed alongside Google Adsense, as many forms of advertising today can be used to complement one another. Kontera ContentLink ads are a good example for an ad service that can be used side by side with Google Adsense to increase a site's revenue.

You don’t need to be able to sell anything from your site if you use Adsense and other paid forms of advertising to bring in plenty of revenue. What’s more it can all be automated, leaving you with more time to set up your next site. There was a time in the past when an informational site could not have made any significant money, but not any more.

The new millennium brought in a number of ways to earn money online that we hadn’t seen on this scale before. Thankfully they stuck, because many people are now earning a lot of money from these methods alone."
